Struggling in English, Social Studies, and History? Struggling with reading and writing? Or trying to learn English as a Second Language? Help is here! My name is Linda and I am a recent University of Alberta graduate with a degree in Sociology. Being a sociology student requires one to love studying people, its social systems, its history, with a heavy emphasis on reading academic articles, writing papers, and participating in class discussions. However, not only is sociology my love but also teaching! I have an extensive amount of courses and experience in education including but not limited to courses in: Language Arts in the Elementary School, Managing the Learning Environment, Educational Assessment, Technology Tools for Teaching and Learning Education, Educational Psychology for Teaching, Canadian History, English from a Historical Perspective, Comparative Literature, Aboriginal Writing, Ancient Chinese Literature, Linguistics on Phonics, and Linguistics on the English Syntax In addition I also have a Teaching English as a Second Language/Language Learner certificate with Oxford Seminars. I have worked with children ages 5+ in a classroom setting as well as youth/adults as an English Language Facilitator. The English language is my forté, whether it be Shakespeare, essays, poems, creative writing, grammar, or simply how English functions and its language structures. I believe reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking are fundamental skills that will never leave you. Mastering such skills start from a young age and can last a life time! Who says English, Social Studies, or History can't be fun?
