I`m a recent graduate of the Cumming School of Medicine, the University of Calgary with an MSc in Gastrointestinal Sciences. I have one year and ten months of undergraduate teaching (in English medium) experience as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Colombo. Furthermore, I have two years of tutoring experience in High School Biology (in English medium). In addition, I have complimented my teaching experience by volunteering at the “Let’s Talk Science” program at the University of Calgary where I had the opportunity to conduct laboratory sessions for High School students. I strongly believe that my teaching experience together with graduate education provides me with the necessary knowledge and skills to work as a tutor. I have always enjoyed teaching as it ends the day with enormous satisfaction. I enjoy imparting knowledge to students, challenging those who excel, and helping those who are struggling. I have had many opportunities to teach over the years, and I have used all of them to improve my teaching skills. My goal is to connect with students and make sure they understand the material in a way that works for them. I strive to make sure the students are actively engaged, asking and answering questions, and I try to always have time for them to discuss their questions. I play violin during my free time and that helps me to relax and improve my patience. This assists me to become a good listener and also to maintain a healthy interaction with students. Furthermore, I can teach in Sinhala medium in addition to the English medium.
