I am currently undertaking a two year after-degree Bachelor of Education Program at St. Mary’s University in Calgary. I do have experience tutoring and teaching students. During my first practicum in which I was placed with grade nine math students, I had plenty of opportunity to work with students both one on one and in groups. It was a wonderful experience, and it is my hope to continue to work with students both in a volunteer and working capacity. While I have learned much in my short time at St. Mary’s University, I also have an extensive educational background that I bring to the table. I have obtained a BSc Honours degree in Geography and MGIS degree at the University of Calgary. I am adept at all the subjects that incorporate math and science. Furthermore, my training in writing is extensive. I have written two thesis components, and have submitted peer-reviewed writings for a professional conference and for an online publication. My desire to teach and tutor stems from my love of working with children. This passion has increased in tangent with the growth of my own two sons. In teaching them to read, I discovered how much of a benefit I could be to children even at a very young age. My time volunteering as a coach has also provided me with more experience working with children in a teaching environment.
