Hi there. My name is Sydney, I'm a recent grad from the University of Alberta. I complete a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology and minoring in English. I have extensive experience in teaching from helping others in my classes both in high school and university as well as tutoring as a Summer Reading Club Supervisor at the Kitimat Public Library in Kitimat, B.C. and as a tutor with Oxford Learning in Beaumont. My general teaching style is based on how I find the student works best whether that is through hands on activities, worksheets, videos, or other tools. I am very adaptable and will discuss with the child/student how they would like to learn the information and how they learn best. I am most comfortable with English, maths, and sciences particularly biology as I was awarded the top marks in biology for Grade Twelve, however I did achieve honors in all subjects. I have been babysitting since age 10 so I am very comfortable working with children as they usually find me quite relatable. In my spare time I love to read, watch movies, explore the city, and hike around the river valley. I know that I will be able to cater to your specific needs and help you or your child achieve their goals!
