Welcome! My name is LJ, and I recently finished my Bachelor of Education (Elementary) degree at St. Mary’s University, to add to my previous degrees in Physical Geography in Atmospheric and Hydrological Sciences (University of Manitoba) and an additional Bachelor of Science in Applied Disaster and Emergency Studies (Brandon University). During my time at Brandon University, I was a tutor for the Applied Disaster and Emergency Studies department, focusing in lab style tutoring sessions, one-on-one sessions and marking. During my time with St. Mary’s University’s Education Department, my practicum has allowed me to teach all subjects in the Grade 6 curriculum, though I focused more on Math and Science. I have been a Girl Guide Leader with Girl Guides of Canada since 2001, and have worked with all the age groups, though I have worked the majority of my time with girls in Grades 4 to 9. I am an avid outdoors person, who frequently goes fly fishing and hiking. I love learning, and sharing my knowledge with others, so teaching and tutoring fulfills this need. I love seeing when someone has an ‘ah-hah- moment when the concept clicks in, this is why I would love to be your tutor!
