Hello! My name is Maria. I was born and raised in Calgary, and completed my PhD in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary. In addition, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (With Distinction) from the University of Calgary in 2010. I have supervised several undergraduate students during my PhD, helping them to understand university level biological concepts as well as promoting critical thinking to solve problems. I promote the use of critical thinking rather than rote memorization in studying, as the former is proven to be more effective in helping students to improve their knowledge and understanding of the subject matter.
