I am a recently graduated B.Sc professional with over five years of tutoring experience and a love for helping others achieve academic success. I graduated with Honors in 2019 from Mount Royal University with a major in Health Science, and a double minor in chemistry and psychology. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Science in Biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University and am also in the process of applying to medical schools for Fall of 2020. My areas of specialties include chemistry, physics, biology and math. I particularly enjoy teaching chemistry and have taken nearly every chemistry course MRU offers. In my spare time, I compete in the sport of show jumping with my two horses, I also enjoy snowboarding and playing recreational hockey. I have helped students go from previously struggling with concepts and failing grades to receiving A's in multiple subject areas. I have extensive experience in tutoring at the jr. high, high school and university level. My teaching style involves an analytical approach, I start by identifying areas where the student is struggling and then breaking difficult concepts into smaller manageable pieces. After those are mastered, I build from them until the student is able to recognize a more complex problem and apply the appropriate steps in solving it on their own. I try to find individual styles and tricks that work for each student in order to ensure the concepts are fully understood and solidified in their memory.
