from the but- prefix we know it is a 4 carbon chain, the -oic acid ending tells us it is a carboxlyic acid so on one of the end carbons we have a double bonded oxygen and an hydroxide group. The question tells us that the water will gain an H to make hydronium so the butanoic acid must loose an H. 

CH3CH2CH2COOH + H2O = H3O+ + CH3CH2CH2COO

butanoic acid + water = hydronium ion + butanoate ion

structural diagrams are the ones where the atoms are represented by their chemical symbol (C, H, O) and the chemical bonds are represented by lines connecting the atoms. A single bond is one line, a double bond is two lines, etc.
